WATSU POOLS

What Is the Ideal Watsu® Pool?
A pool designed for Watsu should provide warmth, appropriate depth, and freedom of movement. Its design directly influences the receiver’s comfort, the practitioner’s posture, and the quality of the session.
Essential Considerations
Temperature
Ideally between 34 and 36°C (93–97°F).
Depth
Between 1.15 and 1.35 meters (approximately 3 ft 9 in to 4 ft 5 in). A gently sloping floor can accommodate practitioners of different heights.
Dimensions
A circular pool approximately 3.5 meters (11.5 ft) in diameter can accommodate a private session. For simultaneous sessions or professional training, a diameter of 7–8 meters (23–26 ft) provides greater space and freedom of movement.
Creating a Multipurpose Pool
A good sound system, both above and below the water, can enrich the experience. It is also helpful to provide a place where the receiver can remain seated or reclined in the water after a session.
Planning a Watsu Pool?
Drawing on more than twenty-five years of practice and teaching, I can share practical guidance with individuals and wellness centers wishing to create or adapt a pool for Watsu and aquatic bodywork.
