ABOUT ME

Georges Amir Künzler

Watsu® Practitioner · Teacher
Aquatic Bodyworker

For more than 25 years, water has been at the heart of my work.

My journey with Watsu began at Harbin Hot Springs in California in the late 1990s. What started as an exploration of aquatic bodywork gradually became a lifelong practice—one that has taken me from California and Oregon to Switzerland, where I have practiced and taught Watsu for many years at Les Bains de Lavey.

MY JOURNEY

My journey into bodywork began long before Watsu. Through meditation, Shiatsu, yoga and the study of movement, I became fascinated by the relationship between the body, touch, breath and awareness.

In the late 1990s, that exploration brought me to Harbin Hot Springs in California, where I discovered aquatic bodywork and began studying Watsu. Working in warm water changed my understanding of touch and movement. Without gravity as the dominant force, I discovered a different way of listening to the body—one based less on doing and more on supporting, following and responding.

Over the years, I continued my training in Watsu, Waterdance, Healing Dance, Shiatsu, Thai massage and yoga, while deepening my understanding of anatomy and movement. Each discipline brought something different to my work, but water became the place where these influences naturally came together.

My journey eventually brought me to Les Bains de Lavey in Switzerland, where I have practiced Watsu for more than twenty years, working with people from many different backgrounds and teaching students how to develop their own relationship with aquatic bodywork.

After thousands of hours in the water, my interest has gradually moved beyond learning techniques and sequences. I have become increasingly interested in what happens between the movements: how we listen, how we respond to breath, how we recognize different needs in the receiver, and how a session can develop organically rather than being imposed.

This ongoing exploration is at the heart of the way I practice and teach today—and of my work with Beyond the Flow, the Five Phases and the Six Stages of Aquatic Bodywork.
